The Sad and Unfortunate Truth About Wasteful Spending
First of all, I think that it is important to mention that not everyone is going to agree on what is considered a "waste of money". However, if you pay taxes, and you pay attention to what federal, state and local governments are spending money on, then you certainly feel as though you are connected to the purchases in some way. I recently read a news article that said that the Pentagon has spent around 300 billion dollars on weapons systems for the military, and that the soldiers are still not getting the resources that they need. The worst part about this wasteful spending is that it will continue to happen for various political reasons. Now, imagine if even 10 percent of this "wasteful spending" was used to help protect the environment. I am not saying that this money would save the world, but 30 billion dollars could certainly make a huge impact on the longevity of this planet. This is wishful thinking, though, and it would be naive to dwell on things that should have happened. I do think that it is important for the world to know about how governments use money, and we all know that awareness is the first step in the process of change.

I agree but I don't think it is wishful thinking at all. as more and more people become aware of how their governments use money, more change will happen.
